who says there's no beach in stockport (ozit cd 0054) 2000
hannett produced tracks: "maybe he'll make you smile," "hold on," "old man's song," "trouble in a major," and "sailaway."
the lovely folks from cheshire-based ozit records have just released this retrospective of 23 pete farrow recordings spanning his entire career, including a session with hannett in 1977 - 5 tracks of which reach light of day here. considering the year, you might expect another power punk/glam assault, but from what i can gather from the promotional material, it seems farrow was a bit of a folkie. the sleeve notes include contributions from famed troubador john cooper clarke and famed troubador and friend c.p. lee, suggesting to me that it can't be half bad. i hope to get a copy myself soon, and will report here when i do.
