It's amazing how Martin Hannett produced so much stuff I truly love, everything from Jilted John thru to John Cooper Clarke and the last truly great Manchester band, the New FADs. Hey kid, your Dad was the greatest.

Not wishing to criticise your fabulous efforts in praising a great human being - but the reference to Martin's work in technology and his "interest in synthesizers" short-changes his fundamental technical role in the history of music. The machine that was his was not the synthesizer - that was Mr. Rushent - but rather the very first truly digital machine, the digital delay device from AMX, Burnley, Lancashire, England. He got the prototype machine just a couple of weeks before going into Cargo for the fir

I came across this site following links from JCC. I remember how the synths and production techniques really brought out the best of JCC. I have always liked Joy Division for similar reasons and now I know what the link is...It was Martin Hannett. Agreat talent lost far too early. John Silcock Durham

I often come here, a place where my emotions dive into Martin's world. Maybe, all his productions reflect the way he felt life, deeply in his wombs. Pop Lunaire.PARIS

Great site, thanks. I lived in Stockport during Martin Hannett's musical legacy and it's been a great half an hour's reading, this evening. I chuckle every time I see or hear Tosh Ryan's name, as my mate was drummer in a glam punk band called Alien Tint in 1979 which briefly got a slating from Mick Middles in Sounds, but were great. They had made some dayglo posters advertising a gig at Pips and "Tosh Ryan's boys" visited them in the dreesing room on the night of the gig to threaten them as he hadn't given

My name is nick hannett. I got to virginia tech. It's nice to see that a hannett is recognized for good hard work. All of the hannetts in my family are hard workers, and I know that martin was one too (even though I didn't know him). If there are any hannetts out there that want to know some of the backround of my family e-mail me at nhannett@vt.edu. There aren't many hannetts out there, but we would like to talk to the ones that are out there.

I have always been interested in naything that was produced by Martin Hannett. I can still remember the first time my local indepentent radio station played a side 2 of of Unknown Pleasures- my first hearing of Joy Division. I rememer how I felt that it pointed to the a rich new future in use of electronic instuments. 20 years latter, I still play the music and many more of his stuff. malcolm lewis Brisbane, Australia

Martin Hannet. Who is Martin Hannet? Not a name, but a man. The Man. Producer of his time, era for that matter. His work must always be remembered and documented. No one has been able to capture the beauty of sound like Hannet. His triumph was "Atmosphere". When I think of Martin and the group he held so dearly (Joy Division), I begin to cry. Two legends now gone (Ian and Martin). Not legends, but heroes. Not goodbye. Not hello. But always and forever...Martin Hannet.
