contemporary review

The Names: Swimming

Others condemned to languish in their "alternative" cells are the Blue Orchids, the Names, and Section 25.   None of their records are strong, or finely tuned enough to win them a mass audience, but they all understand the importance of atmosphere in the dynamics of the album, and are all concerned with dreams of one sort or another.

The Names and Section 25 are both concerned with space.   Dunes, sea, birds and grey waves fill "Swimming" (Crepuscule), its fragile, occasionally pedestrian structures given depth and cohesion by an intelligent, imaginative Martin Hannett production.......Neither deserve the total obscurity that awaits them.

The Face, July 1982.
