Too Futuristic
Interview with Juliette Regan
ZZ: Was the last single, 'Rebecca's Room' an intentional stab at the futurist market?
Nick: After Martin Hannet (sic) produced it, we weren't happy with it. Polydor listened to it and thought they might give us a deal, but they wanted to do their own production on it.
Andy: They made it really futurist.
Nick: I think they wanted to sign us up and turn us into the next Duran Duran or something. You know, make us this year's big thing and by the end of the year we'd be nothing.
Andy: When we got the tape back off them we produced it again and tried to make it as non-futurist as possible.
